Oh But Here I Am

AAAHHH...to have my laptop again. It was simply hideous being without it. I just got the cord I needed in the mail, so I'll be around more often. Laura, I did get your reminders and thanks for asking. Also have a cell phone now, in case you didn't get my mass email, but I guess I shouldn't post my number on a blog.So as far as work goes, what used to be known as Grey Advertising, then Mediacom, is now merging with Young & Rubicam the first of the year to be known as GroupM, which incudes all the big old-time agencies like Ogilvy & Mather, etc. It won't be too much of a change for me, but our office will be moving to (rumor has it ) One Fifth Avenue, which wouldn't be too bad for me. Also I get better benefits that cost less. And I do get to keep my present Doctor John Handsome Montana. Sorry, his real middle name is Buscemi.I'm starting to get some motivation again, but still taking things pretty slow when I can. Last weekend I sang "Look To The Rainbow" and "A Quiet Thing" at my piano bar, Marie's Crisis, and was happily surprised I didn't sound as weak as I thought I would. Plus I dodged all the rotten tomatoes afterwards...I had a friend pass away just a couple of weeks after Margaret, but he was in is late eighties and had been ill a long time. He was an actor in old B movies and has some great showbiz stories. Almost married Lee Remick. We're having a memorial service and all kinds of theatre luminaries will be performing or attending. I don't particularly like this custom of memorials where people get up and do a musical number, one after another. It distracts from the beloved when somebody's up there doing "Bie Mir Bis Du Schoen". IMHO.It's late. More later from the Manhattan Ewing contingency. So glad to be back in touch with y'all.

Charlie! So glad to see you in this corner of the universe! Sounds like your job situation is going to turn out fine. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I have never been to a memorial such as that. I'm sure if nothing else, it would be interesting... Everything is going okay in Romasco World. Stop by our blog to see Joe's Halloween costume - he's such a little ham already! Love and miss everyone~!!!

I went to just such a meticulously choreographed memorial myself a couple weeks ago for a friend here, but it was exactly the way he would have planned it down to the weight of the cardstock on the memorial program. So it worked.

Look at you posting away with a photo in your very first post - you pro-blogger!

Speaking of photos, I just uploaded a bunch more to the glancing gallery.
